YEAH! Church - Sunday, January 17, 2021"Fruit of the Spirit" - Waiting is hard! Waiting to get something or somewhere; waiting for your turn; waiting for anything! But what happens when we refuse to wait? We miss out on good things...and sometimes we can get cranky and whiney or even worried. Patience from God helps us to enjoy what is happening now and helps us not to always be running to the next thing...and the next thing...and the next thing! ~ Pastor Jane
Today’s Lesson - “It’s Good To Learn To Wait” The Fruit of the Spirit - Patience https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgovFZUEORI (Douglas Talks) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VRyu9fEEgs (Patience) Lesson Overview: Being patient and learning to wait can be hard, but not being patient causes lots of problems! When we don’t wait we can miss out on something really good. Remember how Douglas said that he couldn’t wait for his dad to cook the pancakes and ended up eating nasty pancake batter? Yuck! Sometimes impatience can make us really unhappy people...and no fun to hang out with. We can get cranky, worried or whiney. We miss out on having fun with what we have right now, because we’re too busy being impatient about the things we have to wait for. Being patient isn’t easy, but it is a fruit of the Spirit. That means that when you have God in your life, you should have an easier time being patient because He helps us to be! Engage: You have to work at being patient...it doesn’t come easy for anyone. When you’re feeling impatient, what can you do to be less so? Why not try these ideas: • Count down from ten or try reciting the alphabet backwards (give yourself something else to think about) • Find a fun activity to do while you wait (time goes slower when you watch the clock, so find something fun to do instead) • Offer to help if you can (sometimes when we lend a hand, things happen more quickly than when we just wait for someone else to do everything) • What other ideas can you think of to become more patient? Theme verses: Galatians 5:22-23- “The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” Prayer - Thank you, God, that we have your Holy Spirit to help us learn to be patient. Help us become better at waiting and to remember to show appreciation, not just for the new stuff we have been waiting for, but for everything that we have already! Amen
