YEAH!Church - Sunday, February 14, 2021

"Fruit of the Spirit" - Being faithful means that you are loyal and trustworthy. God is very faithful to us–He always keeps His promises. The Holy Spirit can help us to be faithful just like God is.

Today’s Lesson - “Always Do Your Best!”
The Fruit of the Spirit - Faithfulness

Lesson Overview:
Matthew 25:14-30

A wealthy man was taking a long trip and put his servants in charge of all his wealth. He gave his servants varying amounts of money to take charge of, depending on their abilities. The servant who received five talents worked hard and doubled the amount to ten. He was faithful to his master, even though he was away. The servant who received two talents also worked hard and doubled his amount to four. He, too, was faithful. A servant who had received one talent didn’t even try to show loyalty to his master. He buried his talent.

When the master came back he rewarded each servant for their level of faithfulness. He was equally pleased with the servants who had been given five and two talents. They had both worked hard and both were given special responsibilities because of their loyalty. The servant with the one talent, however, was punished for not even trying. Instead of being faithful, he had been faithless and had not earned any reward from the master.

Engage:
• The master in this story is Jesus. Who are the servants?
• The master gave the servants talents to use. What are the ‘talents’ Jesus has given to us?
• We do not know when Jesus will come back, just as the servants did not know when their master would return. What does Jesus want us to be doing while we wait for him to come back?

Theme verses:
Galatians 5:22-23- “The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!”

Prayer - Thank you, God, that you trust us to do your work on earth. You want us to show other people your love and tell them the good news about Jesus. Help us be loyal to you and always ready to speak the truth about Jesus.
