Yeah! Church Sunday, January 10, 2021"Fruit of the Spirit" - In our world today, people worry about a lot of things. Unfortunately, when we worry we spend our time on the wrong things. Worry robs us of peace. When people worry, they often spend their time fighting. People say they want peace, but peace only comes from God’s Holy Spirit. The only way to experience His peace, and be able to share His peace with others, is to allow Him to help us not worry. ~ Pastor Jane
Today’s Lesson - “Know Peace - Share Peace” The Fruit of the Spirit - Peace https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPv4MqtpfNM (Douglas Talks) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKpE8fbT1gA ( Live at Peace) Lesson Overview: Jesus told us that one of the ways to have peace as His followers is to focus on doing God’s work, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need” (Matthew 6:33). As we put our best effort into obeying Him, our heavenly Father makes certain we have the things we need. This is why Jesus could tell us not to worry...about having food to eat...about having clothes to wear...about having a place to stay. God knows we need those things and He’ll provide them (Matthew 6:25-34). Sometimes, however, we don’t trust God and we spend our time working to get those things...food, clothing and a home...rather than on obeying Him. That’s when worry sets in, because we think we have to do everything, rather than relying on God. And when we worry, the Holy Spirit can’t grow peace in us, because we don’t trust God to keep His promises. When we don’t know God’s peace, too much of our time and energy is spent fighting for the things, rather than trusting God to help us just as He’s promised to do. It can be difficult to trust God 100%, but that doesn’t mean He isn’t 100% trustworthy...and that should help us relax, focus on what He wants us to do and know His peace! Engage: Instead of worrying about clothing, food and a place to live, what did Jesus tell us we should focus on? When we do, what did He promise would happen? How much can we trust God? How much do you trust God? Theme verses: Galatians 5:22-23- “The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” Prayer - Thank you, God, that you have promised to take care of us when we live obediently for you. Help us not to worry about stuff you will take care of. Help us to know your peace. Help us to share your peace with others. Amen
