YEAH! Church - 2 August 2020Through the Bible in 2020
So far we have seen Jesus turn water to wine, feed 5000 people with five loaves and two fish and raise his good friend, Lazarus, from the dead. Today, we’re going to discover that Jesus had power over the weather too! Today’s Lesson: Even Storms Are No Match for Jesus Jesus Calms the Storm - From Saddleback Kids - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYLHqdSO9OY From the ‘Jesus’ Movie - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyzwCpofQSA For older children / parents - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovUZDQJ69DI Lesson Overview: Mark 4:35-41 and Matthew 8:23-27 - Jesus had spent an exhausting day teaching the people and when it was evening, He decided to have his disciples go across the lake in their boat. But while they were still in the middle of the lake a very dangerous storm came on them. Their boat was tossed so much and the waves were filling the boat full of water. The disciples were terrified. But not Jesus. Jesus had been so tired that He had fallen asleep on a cushion at the stern of the boat and the storm hadn’t woken Him up...He was that tired! The disciples were desperate for help, so they woke Him up. They asked Him, “Don’t you care if we drown?” Jesus got up and rather than grabbing an ore to help row, He simply said to the storm, “Quiet...settle down!” And it did! The storm completely went away and the sea was once again completely calm. Jesus turned to the disciples and asked them why they still had so little faith. Didn’t they know that God would take care of them? Didn’t they know that He was the Messiah–Jesus was the promised Rescuer? Didn’t they know nothing could happen to them if He didn’t let it? This week’s verse: Proverbs 3:26- “ The Lord will keep you safe. He won’t let you get caught in a trap. ” Sometimes in life we face ‘storms’–stuff that threatens to swallow us up that we don’t know how to deal with–but Jesus is bigger than any storm. He tells us that we should have faith that He will be with us. He may not always make the storm stop, but He can help us during it. ~ Pastor Jane Theme Verse for 2020: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16+17
