"Easter—the Greatest Event in History!" – In the story of Easter, we know that Jesus died and rose again, but why did he have to do any of it? For you and me! God was born as the God-man, Jesus (which we celebrate at Christmas), so that he could die for us, then rise again (which we celebrate at Easter). Why? For us!

Genesis 3 – Adam and Eve had been tempted by the serpent to disobey God and when they did, sin came into the world infecting all the good things God had created. God promised that he would send his rescuer who would defeat Satan, sin and death.
John 3:16 – God sent his son, Jesus, into the world as that rescuer.
Matthew 27:27-28:10 – Jesus was killed on a cross, even though he had done nothing wrong. His death made a way for people to experience forgiveness and enjoy a relationship with God—he paid the penalty for the bad things we have done. But because he had no sin of his own to die for, God raised Jesus from the dead. Jesus had conquered death and sin and Satan!
1 Peter 1:3-4 – The Bible tells us that anyone who believes in Jesus and follows his directions can go to heaven to be with him; in fact, he is preparing a place for everyone who wants to be his friend right now.
• When people disobeyed God, they infected the entire planet and themselves with sin. We made the mess, why couldn’t we fix it?
• God knew that it would take a special person to be able to live a perfect life. What does it mean that Jesus was a God-man?
• Jesus died on a cross. How did that help get rid of death?
• Jesus died and was buried. Why didn’t he stay dead?
We have been learning these verses over the past six weeks…how did you do?
John 15:9-17 - “9 I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. 10 When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. 11 I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! 12 This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. 13 There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me. 16 You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. 17 This is my command: Love each other.”
Prayer - Thank you, God, for you amazing gifts to us. Thank you that even though we messed up your perfect world, you were still willing to help us. Thank you that we can have a relationship with you and can live in heaven with you forever.
